I Spy Friday Edinburgh

I am so happy that it's Friday!  It's a been a long but good week.
I had a few rough moments getting through Thanksgiving so far from home,
but we got through it.

Although Sugar Bear who works in retail called me in tears after some Black Friday trauma.
Poor baby.  I think Black Friday is the worse thing to happen to retail since.... ever.

Here is a photo-heavy, word-light Friday post featuring Edinburgh.
I still have several more posts on Edinburgh, but there was so much to see and do!

Did you know that the thistle is the official emblem of Scotland?

Nothing like a man is a kilt, don't you think?

I think he could pull it off.  He has great legs.

We found this great little shop The Celtic Craft Center
The shopkeeper spent some time with us finding some family tartans.

When he found out that I'm from Texas he pulled out a Texas Bluebonnet tartan.
I think it's so pretty!

Momma, I thought of you when I saw this old Singer sewing machine.

I really love the relaxed and fun atmosphere of Edinburgh.
Even during the off season, there is always something going on.

Take a listen to The Fallows here.  They are terrific!

There was always something to see along the Royal Mile. I didn't put the camera down.

We didn't visit Camera Obscura this time, but enjoyed the fun mirrors outside.

And I even had some haggis!

We found the most wonderful restaurant!  The food and service were both amazing.
It's called Angels with Bagpipes and we highly recommend it if you are in Edinburgh.
And the haggis was great!

How was your week?

xoxo

  1. I'm sitting here in Kansas but would trade places with you any day! I have traveled to Edinburgh twice and can't wait to go again. There was never enough time to see it all on our tours. It's a magical place...and I loved the Haggis!

  2. Love Edinburgh! The Haggis was particularly yummy, although afterwards my stomach had some major cramping. I think it was saying "Why did you make me eat another stomach?!"

    Ah well.

    Where is the Angels restaurant?

  3. Aww, your Edinburgh photos make me yearn to return to my (old) corner of the world! I love the shots you got here and on your post about the Castle. Some great angles and moments.

Also - I didn't get to try sweet potatoes with marshmallows although I had heard of the dish before! My mother-in-law made candied sweet potatoes, though which were delicious.

  4. Good Morning,
Thanks for the lovely photos. We will be here for a day in August 2013. Cruise stop here. We may want to return for a longer visit.

We live in Edinboro Pennsylvania. Edinboro University was founded here in 1857 by the descendants of Scottish immigrants, who came to the area in the late 1790s. They named their community “Edinboro” after their beloved Edinburgh, Scotland.

We have photos on my webpage which show the "Standing Stones at the Highlands".

I would love to see some of the circle of stones in Edinburgh somewhere. Are there any close by to the city?

    Thanks
    Catherine
