My Favorite/Favourite Colors/Colours

My very favorite color is green.  And the greens that you find in England are the very greenest!  Add in the blue of the sky and the yellow of the rapeseed fields and the results are fantastic.  I've decided that I must have a patchwork quilt that captures the green, yellow and blue of my new home.

It felt good to get out of London for a long weekend with my little family of three.  After Stonehenge, we headed to Exeter.  TE showed us Exeter University and the dorms where he lived.  (I don't think they call them that here.)  It's a beautiful campus.

We also visited the Exeter Cathedral built in the 1400's.  It is a very welcoming congregation and one of the few cathedrals where you are allowed to take photos.  Sugar Bear was especially intrigued by the old tombs throughout.

Sugar Bear helped with the camera duties in the cathedral.

After spending some time in Exeter we headed to Moretonhampstead for the night.  It's a sleepy little village on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park.

We stayed at a 15th Century guesthouse, The Longhouse B&B. We found a local pub for dinner and SB had her first authentic British fish & chips.

So far, so good.  Sugar Bear agrees that it's beautiful here.  But the jet lag was catching up with her.  She was in bed early that night.

Sleepy Girl.

The B&B was comfy and we woke up the next morning to a hearty breakfast. The perfect start to another day as we head into the Moors.  Stay tuned for more.

  1. I've said for a while now that I'm going to make a quilt of the Yorkshire Dales! I even emailed Google Maps to see if they would give me a satellite image in the dimensions I want... no answer :(
Funny how we each had the same response; those fields are amazing! There's a place up here, Brimham Rocks, that you can climb up and overlook Nidderdale (a valley in the southern part of the Dales) and it's breathtaking. One of my favorite sights in the world.
