Betty's Tea Room in Beautiful Harrogate

I can't believe it's been over a month since our visit to Harrogate in York.
On a brisk, sunny day we had the quintessential British experience
of queuing up at the original Bettys' Tea Room.

It was everything it should be.  Lovely food and great service.
When the waiter noticed my camera he moved us to a
table by the window for better lighting.

Harrogate is such a charming little town.
It seems to have the perfect mix of village life and English countryside.
My friend Gesci lived there for a few years and loved it.
I can certainly see why.  If it wasn't such a long commute to London for work,
I would be contacting an estate agent ASAP.

We tried mint tea for the first time in anticipation of our
Spain/Morocco trip which we just returned from yesterday.
It was wonderful, exotic, surprising and exhausting!

After 10 days on a group tour, on crowded trains and in bustling cities,
I'm enjoying a quiet day at home.

In spite of the chill, I have the windows thrown open.
I should be unpacking and doing laundry.
Instead, I've been catching up on my favorite blogs.

As much as I love to travel (and I really love to travel) it feels good to be home.
(It makes me so happy that London now feels like home.)

Now I'm off to tackle that laundry download a ridonculous number of photos
and plan our next trip.

I'm looking forward to catching up with you all!!

  1. Never been to the Bettys in Harrogate but i've been to the one in York a number of times over the years - even took the husband on a date there once. Their afternoon teas are divine, but their cake trolley is just heaven on earth!

  2. Love, LOVE!! Betty's was such a treat for us- we always took guests there, but we went on a few occasions ourselves, including the day before we flew out. Everything there is just delicious, from tea to coffee to food, and the atmosphere is both posh tea and comfortable to laugh outloud with friends!
I'm so completely pleased you loved Harrogate- I feel almost as if I'd gotten to show it off to you in person!

  4. Oh, I missed the cake trolley! I definitely need to visit a few more times to experience everything. I wanted to step into the gift shop but it was so crowded I couldn't get in. Everyone was buying their amazing chocolate Easter eggs. xoxo

  5. If you ever get up there right after Easter, the eggs are 50% off- making them a *slightly* more affordable indulgence! I split one with a friend. It was AMAZING.
