I Spy Friday featuring Our Bridge

So, today...

I've officially been living in the UK for one whole year!!!

Can you believe it?  I certainly can't.

Some days if feels like we've  just arrived and others it seems we've been here forever.

I need to sit down and write my One Year Well-Expat Check Up;
to really take a look at what the last year has meant to me.

After work tonight, we are off on a quick Winter Trip to celebrate our anniversary and TE's birthday!

We're flying to Zurich, Switzerland,
then taking a train to Salzburg, Austria via an overnight stop in Innsbruck, Austria.
We will be flying back on Wednesday with tons of pictures!

In the mean time, here are a few photos of Tower Bridge.
It's my favorite site in London.
We have dubbed it "our bridge" and I can't pass by without taking a picture.

Fun Facts about Tower Bridge:

It's often mistakenly call London Bridge which is just upstream.

Construction began in 1886 and the bridge opened in 1894.

It was originally greyish-green but was painted red, white & blue in 1977
for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee.

It's a suspension bridge and is opened about 1,000 times each year.

The speed limit is 20 mph and
every London cabbie claims at least one speeding ticket from Tower Bridge.

I even got a 3D Tower Bridge puzzle for Christmas!

I'll post another picture when I've finished it.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!!

xoxo

Enjoy the wonderful Chocolates in Switzerland...we were offered pieces of chocolate in almost every shop we entered....so enjoy!

  9. Congrats Selena on one whole year! Isn't it funny...I'm living in Canada now (and as I'm America obsessed thought I'd be having the time of my life) but there is soooo much I miss about England which I didn't expect to happen at all! despite the fact I can drink root beer every day haha!

  10. I just stumbled upon your blog, and I have to say I love it! I'm an American (also from the South!) and I lived in London in 2011 and 2012. I'm now living in the Netherlands, but I miss London so much. Your London posts bring back such good memories. Tower Bridge is also one of my all-time favorite London spots. I lived less than two minutes walking distance away from Tower Bridge and walked past it every day but it still amazes me. If you like the SE1 area, you should definitely make a trip out to Borough Market one Saturday--If there's nice weather, buy some delicious fresh food from the market and then go take your picnic to Potter's Fields and gaze upon Tower Bridge. There is nothing better! http://www.lifeinastateofwanderlust.wordpress.com

  11. Sarah, I'm so glad you found my blog. I can't wait to spend some time going through your archives and reading about your adventures. I am absolutely loving London! We just moved this weekend from SE1 to SE3. But living so close to the heartbeat of London for a year was so special. Thanks so much for commenting! I look forward to making a new blog friend!! xoxo
