Weekend in Malta - Part 2

As usual when we take a weekend break, we booked our return flight from Malta late in the day.  This meant we had most of Sunday to enjoy more of the sun and sea views.

We checked out and left our luggage at the hotel and walked again along the sea wall.   Our intention was to catch a Hop On Hop Off Bus over to Valetta and out to the Blue Lagoon.

But I dawdled.  I stopped to take pictures, lots of pictures (so many cute little boats!)  I stopped to people and puppy watch.  At one point, I was distracted by a crepe vendor. La, la la.  Malta is the perfect place to dawdle.  It just felt good to be out in the sun.

Don't you love this bit of street art?  When I posted it on twitter I found out that the man climbing through the wall actually immerges in Sapri, Italy.  It's called "The Mediterranean Door" and portrays the struggle of migrants.

Because I was moving in slow motion we decided to nix our plans of the bus trip and instead opted for a Harbour Cruise with Captain Morgan Cruises.  The journey took us around two natural harbours on either side of Valetta.

We sat up on the top deck in the sun and relaxed into the journey.  There was commentary but it was a little difficult to hear and understand.

The photo below reminds me of Venice, don't you think?  And the one after that shows this amazing yacht.  Can you tell me anything about it?  We tried to Google it but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone else Google the yachts they see on their travels to find out who the rich owners are? Nope, just us?

After the harbour cruise, we hopped on a ferry to take us over to Valletta.  Valetta is Europe's smallest capital city and it's a bit like stepping back in time.  Well, except for all of the cars.

Everything was mostly closed up as it was a Sunday.  But we managed to find somewhere to have a quick lunch.  Then we just strolled around leisurely admiring the Maltese balconies.

Soon it was time to take the short ferry back to Silema to pick up our luggage and make our way to the airport and home.

I didn't feel sad at all to leave Malta because I'm certain that we will return.  We are already discussing when would be the best time to go for a whole week.  There is so much more that we didn't see.

Have you been to Malta yet?
