Six things you should know

Have I mentioned lately how much I love blogging?
One of the main reasons is the amazing people that I've met along the way.
I love following bloggers as they go through life.  I feel like I know them even if we haven't yet met up face to face.

The post Six Things You Should Know About Me has been makings its way around the web.
It's a terrific way to get to know more about a blogger. To look behind the travel, reviews, wardrobe, DIY, parenting tips and food that is the focus of our blogs and see a little bit more about the real person.

Belinda from Found Love. Now what?, Bonnie from A Compass Rose
and Casey from True Colours were all nice enough to tag me.
They each had 9 questions and I am to answer 6 of them.
I've selected a combination from all of their questions.  So here goes.

1.  Why I blog and how my blog came about.

I'm married to an wonderful Englishman (you can read our love story here) and about 10 months into our marriage we decided to move from my home of Texas to his home of England.  I immediately started scouring the internet looking for information about the UK and London.  I stumbled upon a several blogs written by others who had already made this transition.  It was like manna from heaven.  I couldn't get enough of their first-hand experiences.  The struggles and challenges they faced.  The food they missed. How they kept in touch with family and friends.  All of the wonderful things they had discovered about their new home and themselves.  They inspired me to record my own journey.  I started the blog to help me through the transition.  Now I blog because I love it!  It's a creative outlet that I need.  And the people that I've meet through blogging are now some of my dearest friends.

2.  What I am most proud of.

I am most proud of my gorgeous daughter Jessica.    I had her when I was 21 and clueless.  Not to say all 21-year-old's are clueless, but I certainly was.  Luckily, she was born strong, smart and independent.  She is my best friend and I had so much damn fun raising that girl-child.  She is now 25 and living back in Texas. (I so just told you my age.)  She is tough, no-nonsense cookie with a soft, mushy sensitive center.  Being her mother is, has always been and will always be my greatest pride and absolute joy.  She is coming for a visit in a few short weeks!!!  We are taking a Mother/Daughter trip to Paris.  How cool is that?  I can't wait!!!

3.  The one goal I would like to accomplish before my next birthday.

Ugh.  I so need to lose some weight.  Bleh. Such a pain! Please let me whine about this some more while I lick Nutella off a spoon and chase it down with some rosé. (Well, now that sounds like some motivation, doesn't it?)  Okay.  So how can I put a positive spin on this one?  My one goal, that I WILL accomplish before my next birthday is to run walk crawl drive a marathon, 10K, 5K to the pub.  I need to do some work on this one.  Maybe I'll follow up in a later post.  Let's just move on, shall we?

4.  Of the places I've lived, this is my favorite.

Duh.  Texas, y'all!  No, seriously.  Texas is a wonderful place with amazing people.  Don't go by everything you hear in the news.  Texas has its fair share of embarrassing politics and stereotypes, but it's so much more than that.  If you ever get the chance, just visit Austin, San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country in between.  You will love it!  I promise.

5.  This is what inspires me.

I'm inspired by gaining new knowledge and experience.  Nothing is more exciting than  seeing someplace you've only dreamed about.  I love trying new things and stepping out of my well-lived-in-comfort-zone.  I love learning to look at things in a different way.  I love when people surprise me and teach me something that I never would have known without crossing their path.  This is why travel excites me so much.  Everything is new and I'm constantly learning and growing.  I just can't get enough!  (Now you're gonna be singing that song all day.  You're welcome.)

6.  Something you may not know about me.

I could so do your taxes.  Not that I want to.  But I could.  I went back to school as a "mature" student and graduated with an accounting degree (with honors even).  I'm a Certified Public Accountant and specialize in auditing non-profits.  I'm not currently working but plan to seek part-time employment in the Fall.   I love accounting.

So, there you go.
Hopefully you feel like you know me a little better.
I hope that doesn't prevent you from visiting again in the future.

I am tagging Gina, Erin, Jade, Amy, Sara, Sarah, Gladley and YOU!!  If you are reading this,
please join in and send me an email when you do.  I'd love to learn a little more about the person behind the blog.

Here are my nine questions to get you started.

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?  How did that work out?
2.  What is the best advice your Mother ever gave you?
3.  What is your favorite comfort dish to prepare?
4.  If you had a million dollar investor, what business would you open?
5.  What is the biggest challenge that you have overcome?
6.  If you were a super hero, what would your super hero powers be?
7.  If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
8.  What are you most afraid of?
9.  What is the best gift that you've ever received?

My husband is also a CPA! He was an auditor at Ernst and Young before switching to the company he's at now. I am very grateful that he can do our taxes. ;o)
