The Sunday Currently

After a long break I'm back to blogging like crazy.  I'm trying to get caught up so I've been doing about five posts a week.  I've been posting a lot about places, but I don't want to lose that personal touch.

I  haven't written much about the day to day stuff.  I've been missing that more personal connection and I wonder if you have, too.  So, I've decided to start posting a Sunday Currently update whenever I get the urge.  Just to update you on what's going on in life.

Watching.   I don't know what I'd do without Hulu and Netflix.  I've started watching the new season of The Bachelor.  Looks like it's going to be true to form and a train wreck.  I can't not watch.  A friend suggested that I check out The Good Wife and now I'm working my way through each season.  And last night we went to see American Hustle.  It was okay, I guess.  Great acting, but a bit indulgent.  Ninety minutes of slow story building and thirty minutes of good stuff.

Listening.  I've been listening to the new Bridget Jones book on my phone.  I just can't get into it.  I've also been listening to my Pandora station featuring Sting.  I love him!

Fretting.  I had some basic blood work done last week for a wide range of vague symptoms.  I go back this week for results.  I'm sure they are just going to confirm what I already know.  Perimenopause.  How the hell did that happen?

Reading.  I'm loving Liz Gilbert's new novel, The Signature of All Things. She is such an inspirational woman.  I'm also reading all of the blogs on my Bloglovin feed. I'm so bad about commenting, but I love reading what everyone is up to.

Planning. I'm getting so excited about our trip to Iceland in three weeks!  I'm getting antsy to go somewhere.

Studying.  My initial Spousal Visa will expire in a few months, so it's time to apply for my Indefinite Leave to Remain.  So I've started studying for my Life in the UK test.

Enjoying.  The sun is out today and it's so pretty.  Knock wood but we've had some really decent weather this winter.

So, I guess that's about it.  Nothing too exciting.

What's going on with you?

  1. I love reading your blog, but even more so when there is the personal connection. I vote "yes" for future Currently posts. I have also been thinking of doing some kind of weekly post in a similar way as I feel I have just been posting lots of "photo dumps."

Anyway, I absolutely love the Good Wife. It's one of those shows I'm not embarrassed to admit that I watch. Unlike The Bachelor - thanks for the tip on the new season starting. I will have to find it on hulu. And I know what you mean about Fretting. I had a dr. visit this week (all is ok) that I just about had an anxiety attack about. :)

  3. I just finished reading the new Bridget Jones book today, it was a nice read. Somewhere in the middle of the book I found her really, really annoying doing one thing I can't totally stand in real life, texting non-stop while she's around other people - and even worse, in a work meeting. But the last two parts of the book were just great. I love, love the end :)

I hope your blood test results are ok and good luck with your revision for the Life in the UK exam.
    Have a lovely week!

  5. That's a lovely update :D Good luck with the Life in Britain test - it used to be a whole load of random, useless fact you needed to learn (I for instance didn't really need to know the prodestant population percentage of Scotland). One day it may come in helpful. Maybe :D

  6. Netflix is my downfall. Although I don't mind doing the dishes so much when I can put a netflix show on while I'm doing them. I'm working my way through Nurse Jackie now. I used to watch the Good wife on tv, it's a good show.

  8. I love this type of blog, please keep doing the Currently. Thank you for the good book recommendations. I felt about the same as you during American Hustle, it was very nerve wracking to watch.
Finally I had a weekend with free time and I choose to clean out all the clothing drawers in the house. And read some good books, and walk the dog plenty. Our winter has disappeared in the California desert, mid-80's and really we'd like a little crisp air back.
Good luck studying for your test. I've heard Iceland is amazing! Can't wait to see the pictures.

  9. I loved this post (although I pretty much love all your posts), it was informative, to the point and personal :)
Can I live through your travel plans? I so want to go to Iceland!

  10. Good luck with the tests, I always work myself when I am waiting for results and convince myself I am dying and then they come back with something totally normal

  12. I think I'm going to try to do it each Sunday. That's why I love to read blogs, that personal connection. I don't want to lose that.

  13. OMG, I was a hot mess. I got myself so worked up. The doc told me to sit quietly for a few minutes because my BP was so elevated. But, everything is fine and just like I predicted. Perimenopause. UGH!!! Ain't nobody got time for that!!!

  15. Did you really need to study? I'm almost finished reading the book and I'm wondering how much more time to dedicate. Did you memorize a bunch of stuff or can you get by with a basic general knowledge?

  16. Only a few more weeks for Iceland. I'm getting so antsy. What fun things do you have planned next month??

  17. I'll keep pushing through then. It's probably better to read rather than audio book. The reader sounds like an older woman than Bridget which is distracting. And the constant notation of the date and time is annoying. Thanks so much for the encouragement, Irene. :D It means the world.

  18. I was right. The Menopause! WTF?!?! If I hear it called "the menopause" or "the change of life" one more time, I'm going to scream. It's more like "the exorcist." There are more mood swings happening in my house than in an all girls boarding school.

  19. Thanks so much, Tanya. It's funny how you feel like you know someone from reading their blog. (And are comfortable enough to accost them in the airport!) :D We have a lot in common, don't we? I feel silly at how worked up I was now. I was convinced it was something serious. I'm just trying to deny the inevitable. Results were all good other than the M word (ugh) and deficiency in Vitamin D and Anemia.

  20. Boo :( But I am glad it is nothing worse! x

  21. I'd really recommend a bit of revision - but at the end of the day it's multiple choice.
    It's just such a pain to re-book...
    Good luck!!

  22. I love the Good Wife! It's definitely one of my favorites. And get this... I got Gregory hooked on The Bachelor! ;)

  23. I'm not lovin' this new Bachelor, are you? I still have to watch it.

  24. That's so exciting! For me, it's just working mostly (and netflix ;) ) until our wedding in May - then fun things will be happening :)

  25. I was a big Juan-Pablo fan when he was on the Bachelorette, but my feelings have cooled a bit. I think he comes off better in small doses, and of course now that we know he might be a homophobe, my feelings have gone from cooled to downright chilly.
