Instagram Friday

Don't you just hate being sick?
I've been fighting a chest cold for what seems like weeks and it's winning.
My husband is begging me to go to the clinic.
Not so much that he's worried about me, but the coughing is driving him nuts.

I just don't have the inclination to edit photos for today's post,
so I'm going to throw a bunch of Instagram images at you and let you know what I've been up to lately.

We spent a weekend exploring Devon.  England is just breathtaking.  I don't think I will ever get over the scenery.  Small coastal villages, patchwork green countryside, and animals grazing.  I love it.  And there's always a surprise.  What are your thoughts on Verity in Ilfracombe?  She's caused quite a scandal, but I kind of liked her.  When you eat scones, do you put on the cream and then the jam, or the jam and then the cream?
Apparently, it's a great British debate.

We also spent a few days in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  We walked into a random pub one evening and had the most amazing experience.  A group of musicians were just casually playing and drinking beer around a few tables.  One would finish the last dregs of his beer, pack up his instrument and tell everyone goodbye.  Another would arrive to cheers of hello, unpack his instrument, order a beer and join in the melody.  Flutes, drums, fiddles.  It was absolute magic.  I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.  That has to be what heaven sounds like.

Then we hopped on a train south to Dublin, Ireland. Matt and I spent a few days enjoying Dublin before he returned to London.  I spent the rest of the week exploring Dublin and the surrounding area,  as well as attending TBex, a travel bloggers conference.  I had so much fun (and learned a lot, too).  Ireland is everything that I dreamed it would be and more.  I can't wait to tell you all about it.  Simply amazing.

As much as we love to go, it felt so good to have a weekend at home.
Last Sunday was such a pretty blue sky day so we decided to take a blanket over to Blackheath and just relax.
It was lovely.

I'm writing this on Thursday in bed in my pj's watching old John Wayne movies.  We have another weekend in London to look forward to and plan to catch up with some friends.

In more news, I have an interview on Monday that I'm really excited about.
As much as I've loved not working over the summer, it's time to get back to what I do best... accounting.  Wish me luck!  It's just part-time, so I'll still be able to spend time on this blog that I've come to love so much.

Now I'm just going to be shameless and ask you to vote for us in the Avis A list Awards.

So is it cream and then jam or jam and then cream?

  3. You were in my backyard! I live in Dun Laoghaire :) (just by the place by the sea with the swimmers) Happy to hear you enjoyed Ireland. A good irish cure for a cold is a hot whiskey ;p

  4. Get well soon! I am a firm believer in black tea with honey... loads and loads all day long.
Good question though! I've never really thought about it, but I think I do cream then jam. Apparently if I'm eating scones with cream and jam, I might as well go all out - load on the cream!

  8. Cream first, then the jam. There are lots of nasty bugs around at the moment, hope you're better soon.

  9. If cream is anything like butter, then I would say cream and then the jam. But then, I've never been to England. ;-) I hope you feel better soon. Lyndsay is down with the flu this week as well. :-/ Drink plenty of liquids and get lots of rest! You are in my prayers!
Love love the pics. Can't wait to see your more pics from your trip!! Miss you girl!

  11. See, I think jam and then cream, too. But it doesn't look as pretty. And thanks so much for the vote!!!

  12. I miss you, too! I love seeing your pictures and reading about that grandbaby! Adorable. I hope Lyndsay is feeling better. I'm still at about half-strength. I hope it goes away soon. Cream is like butter but only better! And you have to just pile it on. So yummy!

  13. My natural inclination is jam because is spreads easily and then a big, honkin' dollop of cream!!!

  14. It seems like everyone is sick :( Boo. Cream first then jam does look prettier.

  19. I feel so guilty when I pile on the cream, but it's just so good! Thanks for the well-wishes, I'm off to fix a cup of some tea with honey. Sounds good for my sore throat.

  20. I quite like the sound of a hot whiskey. We should have brought some Jameson home. How lucky you are to live in such a gorgeous place! I can't even tell you how much I love Ireland. Everyone was so friendly and engaging and had a story to tell. I was like a kid in a candy store soaking it up! Do you go swimming there? That water had to be so cold!!!!

  23. Coughing during the interview is looking like a real possibility. So over it! I think I need a few more tests of the scones question to find the perfect answer. Thanks for the well wishes!!

  24. I agree!!! Now I'm craving scones with jam and cream and cream and cream!

  25. I love scones, but what I really love about them is the cream. I don't even need the jam, just give me that clotted cream! In fairness, I don't really need the scones either.
Hope you're feeling better Selena! x

Orrrrr, the new gin tours of London? I have to rest my liver from Dublin first, but they both look fabulous.
