Monday, July 1st was Canada Day and
since I've been adopted by a whole gaggle of 'em,
we were invited to join them for a day long celebration.
We started at the Maple Leaf Pub and then made our way to Trafalgar Square
to party with 90,000 other Canadians.
Besides Ontario, this is one of the biggest Canada Day Celebrations in the world.
It's a free event and this year the concert headliners were
Jann Arden, The Sheepdogs and The Tragically Hip.
There was even a street hockey tournament.
I'm now convinced. Canadians are the nicest people ever!!
Add to the mix an American, a few Brits, the Scotsman and the Swede,
and we had a fantastic day!
It was London at its best. I'm lovin' these long, summer nights.
Yesterday was July 4th. I so wish they did something like this for us,
but that would be a bit awkward, wouldn't it?
It was kind of a sad day, knowing that my family was all together and I was missing out.
But, I'm so thankful for my adopted family here in London.
We've been invited to an Independence Day Blow Out
tomorrow complete with chili, cobbler, s'mores and red solo cups.
I can't wait!

Oh yeah! I've just made a date with my hubby to be in London one year on Canada Day. I missed it by 24 hours in 2007. Had I know there was so much fun being had on July 1st in London would have made the effort to arrive earlier!! I hope you 4th of July celebrations were amazing too.
ReplyDeleteI used to live on the Canadian border, like the marker was in my back yard! One side "USA", the other side "CANADA"... I love Canadian people, they are lovely, amazing people with good manners :) Eh?
ReplyDeleteFabulous, I had no idea this event existed! Canadians are wonderful - it's like they got all the best features of Brits and Americans combined.

Very cool, Selena! I was also invited to a Canada Day celebration but couldn't make it. I'll be sure to join in next year though as I think Canadians are awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow! The weather is so great! Perfect for the holiday! We live very close to the Canadian border and we have many Canadians in town as tourists, they are wonderful people!
