The cure for what ails you

Feeling a bit "Meh" today.  I'm sure you can relate.
No blogging juju in my tank.  Matt is home on crutches.
Laundry is piled up and I don't feel like doing it.
Still dealing with some vague health issues.
Weather sucks lately and I'm ready for spring.
Didn't get the job after a second interview which is a big blow to the ego.

But, also, so many good things going to smile about.
Iceland trip was terrific.  Twenty lovely bloggers are joining me for Tea on Sunday.
I got a package in the mail yesterday with some beautiful notebooks made just for me.
So many wonderful things on the calendar to look forward to this year.

And friendships.  No matter near or far, I'm lucky to have such wonderful friends.
In spite of the blues and the rain, they always manage to make me feel better.

Here are some photos from a day out with Gina, Sarah and Tina in Sussex.
It poured rain the entire day, but it didn't matter a bit.  I had a fantastic day.
And looking at these photos makes me feel not nearly so "meh" today.

Sussex, UK

Our first stop was the Ouse Valley Viaduct.  We parked on the side of the road, wriggled open the large gate and then tromped through a muddy field as trains rumbled across the bridge.

But it was so worth it for a view that made me gasp.  The arches all connect in the most wonderful visual effect, each oval getting smaller and smaller.  I just wanted to crawl in to see where it led.

Our second stop was Nymans Garden and House a National Trust property for a wet walk through the gardens and to see the house.  It's a lovely place and I am so going back in the Spring.

There was a cozy little second hand bookstore that I didn't want to leave.
I couldn't resist and bought two books to bring home with me.

Our last stop was a sweet little tea room in Steyning to warm up and dry off.
The perfect end to a rainy British day with friends.

The rain had finally stopped so we explored the quaint little village before heading back to London.

Suddenly, I'm not feeling so blue today.
Thanks, Ladies, for a wonderful day and warm memories.

How do you handle those yucky blah days?

  2. Maybe it's the post-trip blues - you know, the kind that hit when you get home after an amazing trip because you're sad you had to leave? I'm so sorry Matt is on crutches. Poor guy - how long does he have to stay on them?

Your photos turned out so lovely from our day in Sussex! Have you started on the books you bought at that little bookshop?

  3. I hope Matt is feeling better soon and that your "meh" days are soon over :) I'm ready for Spring too, but alas, it will be here soon enough and we'll be lamenting about how fast the year is going. Hope your day is amazing! :)

  4. That viaduct is amazing! You got some great pictures too. You girls were braver than me, I HATE the rain.

  6. I had a whole week of yucky blah days just recently. The winter weather is getting me down and I am missing the Aussie sun so much! I am just looking forward to the exciting things I have planned this year. I'm pretty lucky and sometimes I need to remind myself of this. Hope you feel better soon x

  7. We definitely all have those days when everything is just kind of 'blah'! It must be the winter getting to us! ;) Hope you're feeling better already! I've just admired the pictures from this trip on Sarah's blog and it sounds and looks like such a great and fun day with friends despite of the weather. I'm really sad that I don't get to join you on this Blogger's Tea - the last one was so fun and made me find such great community in blogging. I hope you get to continue this in the future! :) And I also can't wait to read about your Iceland trip!

  8. I hear you on the tough days (especially when laundry is involved) ... but that looks like a lovely day out! How lovely is that little village - I cannot get enough of them. D practically had to drag me out of the Cotswolds after our last visit there. Cannot wait for Sunday's tea! In the meantime, wishing you and Matt a better end to the week.

  9. I've been watching you all deal with the boredom on Instagram. You must be going stir crazy! Any end in sight? Thanks for the well wishes. I so wish you could be here Sunday, too!! xoxo

  10. Kind of like the Day after Christmas. At least until Monday, when he has a physio appointment. We'll go from there. Hopefully, not much longer. I'm loving your posts about our day out. They are much more thorough and complete than mine. I need to get it back in gear. I have started one of them and it's very good. I want to go back to that shop and just sit in a rocking chair all day and read.

  11. You're so right. I shouldn't wish the days away, should I. The sun peaked out a bit yesterday and it looks like it might again today. :D Thanks for the well wishes!! xoxo

  12. OMG, it was so wet & windy. I think Gina lost an umbrella to a big gust. But we weren't even the only ones out. In England, if you let the weather stop you, you'll never get out. :D

  14. Thanks, Sammy :D The sun is out today! I feel bad for whining on the blog as there is so much to be thankful for. But it was just one of those days. We are so going to miss you on Sunday at the Tea! Several people have asked "But, Sammy isn't on the list? I thought she was coming!" But, we'll see you at the next one hopefully!! xoxo

  17. If I am having a 'meh' day, I like to read and maybe try and do something creative. It can also be good to just embraced the 'meh', ignore the household stuff and watch movies!

It looked like a great time out and about - I love the photos as it reminds me of home :-)

  18. If I traveled as often as you and Matt do, there's no way I could dedicate a post to just one thing we did. I would have to condense multiple things into one, too. I'm crossing my fingers Matt can get off the crutches on Monday!
