Another Winter Walk

The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music!
Best Movie EVER!

While we are exploring Salzburg,
I thought I'd share some photos from a walk we took on New Years Day.

I love the days when we just explore this amazing city.

I hope you are off to a great week!
And watch this space... some exciting changes coming up soon for Oh, The Places We Will Go.

I Spy Friday featuring Our Bridge

So, today...

I've officially been living in the UK for one whole year!!!

Can you believe it?  I certainly can't.

Some days if feels like we've  just arrived and others it seems we've been here forever.

I need to sit down and write my One Year Well-Expat Check Up;
to really take a look at what the last year has meant to me.

After work tonight, we are off on a quick Winter Trip to celebrate our anniversary and TE's birthday!

We're flying to Zurich, Switzerland,
then taking a train to Salzburg, Austria via an overnight stop in Innsbruck, Austria.
We will be flying back on Wednesday with tons of pictures!

In the mean time, here are a few photos of Tower Bridge.
It's my favorite site in London.
We have dubbed it "our bridge" and I can't pass by without taking a picture.

Fun Facts about Tower Bridge:

It's often mistakenly call London Bridge which is just upstream.

Construction began in 1886 and the bridge opened in 1894.

It was originally greyish-green but was painted red, white & blue in 1977
for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee.

It's a suspension bridge and is opened about 1,000 times each year.

The speed limit is 20 mph and
every London cabbie claims at least one speeding ticket from Tower Bridge.

I even got a 3D Tower Bridge puzzle for Christmas!

I'll post another picture when I've finished it.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!!

Happy New Year!!

I feel so guilty!

I'm dying to sit down and write you all a long letter/blog post.
I'm anxious to spend a few hours commenting on your blogs and responding to your emails.
I want to make some phone calls to reconnect.  I want to schedule some lunches and get-togethers.
But, alas.  There just aren't enough hours in the day!
I'm sure you can all relate.

Hopefully, things will slow down soon so I can do all of those things.
In the mean time,  I hope you will forgive me for my neglect.
One of my goals for the New Year is to spend more time doing all of those things
(along with the usual goals of losing weight, exercising and cutting down on the cocktails. Ugh.)

We had such a fun New Year's Eve Celebration.
As of Monday, we had no plans at all.  But, I just couldn't let my first
London New Years pass by without some sort of outing.

We stumbled upon the Medieval Banquet online and it sounded perfectly cheesy and wonderful!
Henry VIII, wenches, lambchops, sword fighting, ale, and a disco!
And it was just a quick walk across the bridge, so no drama getting home after midnight.
Perfect!  We had a blast!!

In a city full of wonderful things to see and do, it's probably not too high on the list.

But, if you go expecting good food, not gourmet;
cheesy, not classy;
fun, not stuffy,
then you will have a wonderful time!

Don't ask for a wine list... you get "Red" or "White".
Nope... you don't get a spoon for that soup.  Improvise.
If you need something... just holler "Wench!!"
They will serve you with a smile and a saucy attitude.
Don't clap... bang on the table.  Loudly!
You can even rent a costume to help you get into the mood.

Even the walk home was fun!
Everyone was in such a festive spirit.

I had my hand kissed... twice!!
I still had on my crown from the banquet and
was mistaken for the Queen... twice!!
I simply responded with a royal wave... as you do.

It was a terrific night and the perfect way to ring in the New Year.

I sincerely wish you each and every one a fantastic year
full of love and adventure.
